Project Spotlight

Web game

A real-time multiplayer game platform where players submit answers, vote on responses, and compete for points. Built with Express.js, Vue 3, TypeScript, and featuring comprehensive admin controls and session management.

Party Ready

Sessions spin up in seconds with QR join codes, responsive layouts, and soundtrack support for a couch-friendly trivia experience.

Host Controls

Admins orchestrate rounds, tweak scoring, and broadcast announcements with guardrails for multiplayer fairness.

Analytics

Game exports and dashboards track engagement, highlight best answers, and inform future content drops.

What I Built

Web Game is a complete full-stack application that demonstrates modern web development practices. The platform supports multiple players simultaneously, real-time game state management, and provides both player and administrator interfaces with distinct workflows.

Key Features

  • Real-time multiplayer gameplay with round-based question-answer mechanics.
  • Dual-interface design: streamlined player view and comprehensive admin dashboard.
  • Session management with voting system, point tracking, and game history exports.
  • Automated installation scripts for Windows (PowerShell) and Linux/macOS (Bash).
  • RESTful API with health checks, CORS configuration, and proper error handling.

Technical Architecture

The backend runs on Express.js with JSON file-based persistence for session data and round status. The Vue 3 frontend leverages TypeScript, Pinia state management, and modern Sass modules for styling. Component organization follows domain-driven principles, separating player, admin, and shared UI elements.

API Highlights

The server exposes comprehensive endpoints for session management, round status tracking, and player operations including joining, answering, voting, and point updates. All routes return consistent JSON responses with proper HTTP status codes.

Outcome

The application has been deployed and tested across different environments. The installer scripts detect IP addresses automatically and configure both server and client for immediate use. The architecture scales comfortably for local network gameplay and supports export functionality for game analytics.
